Time Out Youth Center

Time Out Youth has provided 33 years of service, advocacy and confidence-building activities to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) youth in greater Charlotte area. Since 1991, youth have come to Time Out Youth from all walks of life and at various stages in their journey of self-discovery. We provide the love, support and guidance that is often missing in their lives. The Center is the only local 501(c)(3) organization devoted exclusively to LGBTQ youth in the area. 

We offer weekly support groups, access to housing support, social activities, college academic scholarships, academic admissions support, counseling, career counseling and a safe space where youth can be authentically who they are. 

In 2023, we:

1. Housed 42 youth.
2. Offered 257 youth free meals.
3. Provided items from our Life Essentials closet 464 times.
4. Saw 1,645 youth at our drop-in space, groups, and events.
5. Provided over 956 free counseling sessions to 73 youth.
6. Reached 1,897 people through trainings and presentations with community members.
