$3,000 Goal

The National Museum of Transportation is an independent nonprofit museum focused on preserving and showcasing the unique transportation-related artifacts in our care. Our 42-acre indoor and outdoor campus is home to more than 100 rail cars and engines, dozens of automobiles, multiple jet planes, a full-size towboat, and other artifacts that bring to life the history of travel from the mid-1800s to the present. Every year, we welcome nearly 250,000 guests to our Museum from around the area and around the globe.

It carried stories downriver for generations - now it needs YOUR help to keep its legacy afloat. Every donation keeps history moving forward. Climb aboard and be part of the journey!

The H.T. Pott is the Museum's largest artifact and one of the only water vessels in our care. Built in 1933 by the St. Louis Shipbuilding & Steel Company, it was the first all-welded steel hull towboat to operate on the Missouri River. The H.T. Pott transported barges in the Kansas City, MO, area until its retirement. In 1986, the Museum welcomed this boat to our campus where it was restored and formally rechristened in 1989. Restoration efforts include wood restoration, fence repair and replacement, window replacement, painting, and updated signage.
