Travelers Aid Society of Greater New Orleans

A nonprofit organization

Travelers Aid Society of Greater New Orleans works to end homelessness.

Vision:
Our vision is for New Orleans to be a place where everyone has a safe place to call home.

About Us:
The New Orleans Travelers Aid Society was founded March 18, 1908, for the specific purpose of protecting women and girls from organized vice. It was formally incorporated May 30, 1913. In 1935, the agency was recognized and charged with giving a more professional service to a limited number of residents. Since then, in order to meet the needs of changing conditions, the programs have varied.

Today, Travelers Aid provides Crisis-Intervention counseling and support services for the homeless and stranded travelers who may become homeless.

All Services are offered to persons regardless of race, religion, nationality, sexual orientation or economic status.

Programs (detailed):

Permanent Supportive Housing
Rapid Re-Housing
Coordinated Entry
Outreach
LEAD (Law Enforcement Assisted Diversion)
SOAR Benefits Specialist (SSI/SSDI Outreach, Access and Recovery)

Testimonials

Recently, our outreach team met CC during our street-based services. CC had a housing voucher but was in the process of being rehoused. He faced significant challenges finding stable housing. We were able to help CC secure temporary housing, and mediate communication with providers. We connected CC to our permanent supportive housing program. Given CC's medical fragility and long history of chronic homelessness, he was a strong candidate for the program. Within just two weeks of being referred, CC signed the lease for his new home. We are thrilled to be a part of this journey and look forward to supporting CC as he builds a brighter, more stable future.
