Poverello House of Tucson

A nonprofit organization

Poverello House offers day time hospitality in the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi to homeless men of Tucson. Since Poverello House was founded in 2008 by Br. David Buer, ofm, it has provided a place where homeless men can come in off the streets and be at home and receive basic human services. While many of these services seem ordinary, for these men, they can be life changing.

Its doors are open five days a week, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and approximately 10-12 homeless men are assigned one day each week. They can access services to meet their most critical, basic human needs. They are also linked to other important community services to aid in their journey from homelessness to self-sufficiency. .

More specifically, guests are provided with a nutritious breakfast and a hot, homemade lunch, a chance to shower and do their laundry. The clothing closet can supply them with clean used clothes and jackets, thanks to the generosity of many community members. Poverello House also supplies hygiene items such as razors, soap, laundry detergent, sunscreen, and much more.
