Description

In fashioning words of welcome, I find myself asking, "Well, what would I want to know if I were shopping for a spiritual community?" I hope my questions reflect at least some of yours!

I would want to know that it's inclusive. I would want to know that my religious affiliation, my lack of religious affiliation, my orientation, my questions, my uncertainties, my history and my circumstances would find embrace. And UIL offers that.

I would want to know that it's practical. I would want to know that it offers practices to support me in my navigation of life's circumstances and to support us in living more sustainably, honorably and peacefully on the planet. And UIL offers that

I would want to know that it's positive. I would want to know that it offers teachings and interpretations presuming an inherent worth, intrinsic beauty and expansive potential of life rather than those presuming some inherent flaw. And UIL offers that.

I would want to know that it's reasonable. I would want to know that it aligns with those truths revealed through the disciplines of science, history, sociology, anthropology and good mental health. And UIL offers that.

I would want to know that it's friendly. I would want to know that it actively reaches across the many fences humanity tends to erect with friendship, openness, curiosity and love. And UIL offers that.

And finally, I would want to know that it loves my kids. I would want to know that my children will be encouraged to explore and experience Unity's God of love in an environment that's safe, inclusive, affirming, professional, creative and fun! And UIL offers that!
