In a world where young people face rising anxiety, isolation, and academic pressure, the Upper Darby Arts & Education Foundation (UDAEF) offers something powerful: hope, belonging, and the chance to shine.

For over two decades, UDAEF has enriched the lives of students in the Upper Darby School District through dynamic programs in the arts, education, and community service. At the core of our mission is a simple belief that every child deserves the opportunity to be seen, heard, and inspired.

Upper Darby Summer Stage is one of the nation’s most successful youth theatre programs, welcoming over 500 students each summer to explore their creativity and develop lifelong skills. Participants take part in professional-level productions, creative workshops, and behind-the-scenes learning experiences that build confidence, communication, and leadership. For many, Summer Stage is more than a program, it’s a second home where they find their voice, form lasting friendships, and learn the value of dedication, teamwork, and self-expression.

The Schoener MusicMan Academy provides young musicians with the opportunity to grow both artistically and personally. Through summer camps, lessons, and ensemble experiences, students learn instrumental technique, music theory, and performance skills in a supportive and joyful environment. But beyond music, the program nurtures discipline, self-esteem, and collaboration. Whether a beginner or an experienced musician, every child is encouraged to embrace their potential and discover the joy of making music with others.

Beyond the stage and rehearsal room, UDAEF fosters a spirit of service and connection. We support the UDAE Service Club and the Upper Darby Collaborative, empowering students to give back, embrace empathy, and become engaged citizens. Our community pop-up classes bring accessible arts education into neighborhoods, making creativity available to all ages, regardless of background or income.

Looking ahead, we’re building toward something even greater: a Cultural Arts & Education Center in Barclay Square. This new space will be a hub for creativity, learning, and intergenerational connection, serving residents of all ages for years to come.
