Verland

A nonprofit organization

Verland is a non-profit family of person-centric community homes and supports serving people ages 6 through 70+ with intellectual disabilities, many of whom have multiple physical challenges. In 37 community homes throughout the region, and at the 10-home main campus in Sewickley, Verland clients reside in settings that provide comfort, safety, and a dignified lifestyle. Our professionally trained staff provides lifelong residential, medical, dental, educational, recreational & therapy service

Since 1978, the Adult Training Facility's innovative programs have enabled Verland to fulfill its mission to serve persons with intellectual disabilities. In compliance with the stringent local, state, and federal regulations which govern our facilities, Verland is required to provide adult training for each of the individuals we serve - training that is individualized, purposeful, appropriate, and beneficial to the development and well-being of our residents.

Programming offered by Verland's ATF is educational in purpose, much like a public school system, with self-determination as its primary objective. The focus of the ATF's programming is to increase and/or maintain the skills of the individuals living throughout the Verland system, while meeting their recreational, medical, personal, and therapeutic needs. We also have the following therapies available for all of our clients: Adapted Aquatics, Speech and Language Pathology, Massage Therapy, Equestrian Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Music Therapy, Psychology and Behavioral Supports, and Restorative Therapy.
