Who is Village Friends?

Village Friends is based in Corry, Pa. we serve our members that live in the Corry Area School District that are 55 or older. Our goal is to give older adults the opportunity to remain in their home and keep them keep them active and engaged in our community.

What do we do?

Changing a light bulb, getting to a doctor's appointment, hanging curtains, going to the grocery store; these are a few of the tasks that our personable volunteers do for our members! Our monthly Coffee Club to various local restaurants gets our members out of the house and enjoying one another's company. Museum tours, plays, bus trips and factory tours are opportunities for connection, purpose and learning for our members!

Our volunteers provide services that make living in their own home a reality for our members. We provide social programming that encourages friendships and involvement outside the home.  Our Volunteers offer light indoor/outdoor handyman services, transportation for appointments, technical assistance with electronics and cultural & social activities to stay connected with others in our community. 

Why a Village you ask?

Village Friends is part of a nationwide movement to help older adults continue living independently. Most older adults want to age in their own homes and neighborhoods. Aging-in-place is cost effective, it reduces social isolation for seniors.  It restores purpose and meaning to people's lives and reduces the burden on adult children of aging parents.
