You make so much possible for the Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) and all those we serve. Your dedication and support have ensured our hungry Meals on Wheels clients are nourished with food and friendship, and that our clinical team continues seeing terminally ill patients throughout the pandemic. We know our important work would simply not be possible without you.
The vaccine has brought renewed hope and optimism, yet many challenges remain. VNA has remained resilient; always steadfast in our mission to help seniors age with dignity and independence at home. The hurdles we have overcome and the strides we have made work hand in hand to make us better and stronger as an organization. Here's what your support has made possible:
Meals on Wheels:
For the VNA Meals on Wheels program, we came together with the help of you, our dedicated donors and friends, to continue serving our homebound seniors. Volunteers are back delivering food and friendship three days a week and will resume five-day deliveries in September. Volunteers call clients through "virtual deliveries" providing much needed socialization as well as connecting them with other services they may need to help the safely age in place. VNA has also continued to add new clients from the waiting list to ensure more seniors are being helped.
Hospice & Palliative Care:
The VNA Hospice and Palliative Care clinical team has continued seeing patients as frequently as possible given the restrictions in place, particularly in various independent, assisted, and skilled nursing facilities. As one of the few hospices admitting COVID-positive patients, VNA nurses, aides, social workers, and chaplains have remained hard at work helping those most affected by the pandemic. In January, VNA launched a new pediatric hospice program to provide support and care for terminally ill children and their families.
Pediatric Hospice Care
VNA's Children's Haven Pediatric Program is committed to providing excellent care to pediatric patients and their families, and to helping families to establish goals of care in line with their desires and individual needs. Our team is here to support patients and their families from prenatal care and support to 21 years of age, and we coordinate our care with your healthcare team to best support our patients and families.
