Volunteers of America North Louisiana

A nonprofit organization

$59,463 raised by 54 donors

Volunteers of America began in North Louisiana with the opening of a shelter off Texas Avenue for women and children in 1935. Our hope was, and remains, to reach and uplift all people and bring them to the knowledge and service of God. For 90 years, our organization has taken on the most challenging tasks to help the most vulnerable in our community. Operating as a church without walls, our qualified and professional staff provide supportive services across 40 programs in North Louisiana, helping the most vulnerable in our communities, including children and families, veterans, people with disabilities, and senior adults.

Testimonials

“It's all because Volunteers of America was there to help me through those darkest times. I can't express my gratitude. They were the invisible hand that holds you up." Gary, Veteran Services

"I was in both CIS and LightHouse for a little while. My whole school career, they've always been there. I can talk to them about anything. It's just something about them... I don't know. I just feel comfortable." Jasmine, CIS student at Booker T. Washington High School

"I'm glad I am with Volunteers of America, because I could have been homeless and out there on the streets." Felicia, Choice Neighborhood, resident at Bayou Grande
