Volunteers of America began in North Louisiana with the opening of a shelter off Texas Avenue for women and children in 1935. Our hope was, and remains, to reach and uplift all people and bring them to the knowledge and service of God. For over 85 years, our organization has taken on the most difficult tasks to help the most vulnerable in our community. Operating as a church without walls, our team of qualified and professional staff provide supportive services across 40 programs in North Louisiana helping the most vulnerable in our communities, including children and families, veterans, people with disabilities, and senior adults.

"You can pick your life up at any time and any day in your life. It doesn't matter how old or how young you are. There is someone to help you and that's one reason why I'm really thankful for Volunteers of America." David, U.S. Army Veteran and Former Safe Haven Resident
