Each year, we embark on a journey that plays an infinite and dynamic role in Delaware County. We bring together individuals, veterans, and families to address deeply entrenched social problems. In Delaware County, Compeer and CompeerCORPS serve as beacons of hope for people in the community with mental health challenges. The CompeerCORPS program, with its explicit focus on the veteran community, creates co-equal friendship matches for support, camaraderie, and friendship. Everyone needs a friend, but for people with mental health challenges, friendships can be challenging to cultivate. Isolation and stigma can put people on our society's fringes, leaving them lonely and disconnected from relationships that nurture and spark our lives. Both programs purpose and model thrive on the human connection to combat isolation and loneliness, inspiring hope and fostering a sense of community.
The Untold Valor: Veterans Recovery In Actionpodcast is a vital platform that focuses on veterans with stories of courage, recovery, perseverance, and strength. We are in our third session and looking to raise more money to start recording our 4th season. Veterans share their perspectives on what it is like to battle mental health challenges, combat addictions, and overcome other adversities unique to those who served. Experts experienced in working with veterans present information and practical tools to help with the recovery journey. Our mission is to reach veterans with a message of recovery and hope, and we invite every listener, veteran or not, to engage with these powerful stories and find new ways to support and honor those who served.
