Building a More Connected Frankfort: Safe Routes, Happy Rides, and a Vibrant Community

Over the past year, we’ve shared the joy of kids riding to school, the excitement of our Glow Ride lighting up the night, and the impact of our tools turning wrenches for families. All of that momentum leads us here: Bluegrass Gives Day, when our community comes together to power a future where everyone in Frankfort can walk and bike safely, confidently, and joyfully.

Our Spotlight: The Bike Bus

Imagine a street where the sound of cars is replaced by the laughter of children and the cheerful ringing of bike bells. This is the reality our Bike Bus is building. As a "rolling playground," it does more than just get kids to Second Street School and Collins Lane Elementary safely—it builds confidence, fosters independence, and creates a daily celebration of active travel. This program is the vibrant, beating heart of our mission, proving that when we make our streets safer for our kids, we make them better for everyone.

And Beyond: The Gear Gnomes & Community Rides

While the Bike Bus plants the seed, our Gear Gnomes program ensures no one is left on the sidelines. By providing free bike tune-ups and repairs to families in need, we remove the financial barriers that can keep a bike in the garage. A simple brake adjustment or a new chain can unlock a world of freedom, health, and connection for a child or an adult.

And through community-building events like the Frankfort Triple Crown and the Glow Ride, we transform our streets into spaces for joy and connection, showing what a vibrant, people-first Frankfort can look like.

This Bluegrass Gives Day, your donation is more critical than ever. As grant funding for bike/pedestrian infrastructure shrinks, our local community must fill the gap. From 3:00 PM on, your donation up to $100 has double the impact through the Angel Levas Foundation Arts + Community Match. Your dollars are matched 1:1, supporting: 

• The People: Volunteers, mechanics, and ride leaders.




• The Parts: Tubes, tires, and tools to keep bikes rolling.




• The Programs: Permits, insurance, and materials for safe, fun events.
