WE CARE Palestine

The mission of WE CARE Palestine is to initiate and foster positive, caring relationships in neighborhoods and across the Greater Palestine area. We accomplish this by three proven stategies: 1) reminding and encouraging people to be caring and offering examples of caring neighbors; 2) re-connecting neighbors in neighborhoods by the Block Leader in that neighborhood; and 3) the Friendship House strategy for under-resourced areas of the city. Research shows that building healthy, connected neighborhoods has long-term positive impact on issues like education and crime rates, as well physical and mental health.

WE CARE Palestine has a unique mission. When you support WE CARE, you support a movement to help our community become more caring and connected. Having a solid foundation of caring connections across our city makes our city a more resilient, safer and healthier place to live for all our citizens.
WE CARE has enlisted about 470 people who have made the commitment to do caring acts for others in our city and many have signs in their yards to remind others that caring is important and that caring people abound in our community. Our 'Love Your Neighbor' banquet where Good Neighbors are honored draws a crowd of over 170 citizens.
Through the Block Leader program, WE CARE has been responsible for rebuilding about 15 caring neighborhoods where neighbors do know and care about their neighbors. People in those areas have made positive statements about how nice it is to live in a 'real' neighborhood.
WE CARE has purchased two lots in Palestine's Southend Neighborhood for the future Friendship House. A staff family will live in the house and use the community room for programs to nurture the children/youth/families of the area. Plans are being reviewed.
