Westmoreland Food Bank

Our Mission is to enable our neighbors in Westmoreland County to have ready access to food.

The Westmoreland Food Bank supplied 5.8 million meals to our neighbors in need in 2024. With a staff of 28 individuals, the Food Bank relies heavily on the dedication of nearly 5,000 volunteers who contributed 67,000 hours of service last year to help fulfill our mission. The Westmoreland Food Bank served over 15,000 households last year through food pantries and food assistance programming--an increase of over 40% in the last two years.

The Food Pantry Distribution Program is the core program of the Westmoreland Food Bank that provides food to over 8,000 low-income households each month through a network of partner agencies located strategically throughout the county. In addition to this program, the Food Bank offers specialty programs that provide for the specific needs of children, senior citizens, and veterans--serving an additional 7,000 households. We are grateful to our community for their support during these challenging times of high need and expenses.

He even asked me to teach him how to use the microwave to heat up his chili and spaghetti o's. He's started showing an interest in cooking for himself and independence. Now when I ask him "what do you want for lunch?" He responds with "I'll make my lunch, mom". He knows how to use the milk provided by the program to make himself cereal. I know it doesn't sound like much but this has boosted his confidence in himself being able to cook and do for himself."
