We are Louisville, Kentucky's grassroots, listener-supported community radio station that empowers new voices and vital programming heard nowhere else!

Forward Radio 106.5fm WFMP Low Power Radio Inc. is a listener-sponsored, all-volunteer community radio station operating as an independent nonprofit in pursuit of social, economic, and environmental justice. Since April 9, 2017, we have been broadcasting, live-streaming, and podcasting the voice of the people from the heart of Louisville.  Our studio and transmitter is located in the historic Heyburn Building at 4th & Broadway, helping our station reach hundreds of thousands of listeners thanks to the efforts, talent and labor of our many volunteers.  We hope you'll join us!

We believe that democracy requires an informed public. It is our mission to:

• Produce programming designed to educate and inform listeners about issues that impact our community.
• Seek out and amplify the voices, stories, issues and viewpoints of groups and individuals in our community routinely ignored by the mainstream media.
• Promote understanding and collaboration among diverse groups in our community.
• Support local efforts to network and organize in ways that strengthen our community and our democracy.

Through training and collaboration, Forward Radio seeks to create a network of community partners to aid in building a more diverse and locally relevant media.This is Radio for the People, By the People!

Our FM signal is broadcast from an antenna on the roof of the 17-story Heyburn Building. That height allows our low power signal to reach a relatively large geographic area, reaching at least 300,000 residents throughout Jefferson County and southern Indiana. We also have the power to reach a global audience through our online live-stream and podcasts.

We want you to get "Radio Active" with us and help make media that matters! It’s time to grab the mic from the mainstream media and begin telling our stories from our perspectives. Forward Radio is here to be a megaphone for our community, whether you want to be guest on an existing program, host a one-time Access Hour (we'll take care of all the tech), or launch a new weekly radio show and podcast! Forward Radio is a proud affiliate of the Pacifica Network. We broadcast a mix of progressive national programs and locally-produced shows covering a wide spectrum of community concerns: education, social justice and peace-building, climate change, sustainability, science, community issues and politics, addiction and mental health, human rights, local music, critical thinking, books, and more. We also host, support and broadcast public forums, local candidate debates, demonstrations and other programs that are informative, respond to the needs and interests of disempowered and under-served communities, and create opportunities to broadcast new and diverse voices from the community.

WFMP Low Power Radio Inc. is committed to carrying out its mission of educating, informing, and engaging its listeners! The station was originally launched in 2017 as a new media project of the Louisville Chapter of the Fellowship of Reconciliation (FOR). In 2021, WFMP celebrated our full independence as a new 501(c)(3) non-profit.
