Wichita Falls Railroad Museum

OUR MISSION:

The Wichita Falls Railroad Museum's objective is to educate the public about the impact of the rail industry as it relates to Wichita Falls through a dedicated museum site with historically relevant exhibits and displays, including locomotive engines and train cars, educational displays, varied program offerings, and community events.

WHO WE ARE:

The Wichita Fall Railroad Museum is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization comprised of railroad enthusiasts and community minded volunteers who are anxious to see the vision for the museum become a reality.  Strategic alliances and partnerships with foundations, corporations, local community entities, preservation associations, and railroad industry leaders position the museum for sustainable growth and a positive community impact.   By actively engaging with the community and offering a diverse range of experiences, to include historical reenactments, train shows, and educational exhibits, the museum seeks to captivate and inspire visitors of all ages.

WHY YOUR DONATION MATTERS:

Through cooperation with the City of Wichita Falls, the Wichita Falls Railroad Museum has entered into a lease agreement with the city to restore and revitalize the city's railroad museum.  Closed since the pandemic, your donation will help to restore the 19 historic railcars and grounds to their former glory.   

Located in the Historic Depot Square of Downtown Wichita Falls, the museum site holds significance and is included in the National Register of Historic Places. The original site of the Wichita Falls Union Station, next to the site of the museum, was designated as a Landmark District in 1976.

As the only railway museum within a 50-mile radius, WFRRM will offer a unique and immersive experience for all ages.  With nearby popular downtown destinations, unique shopping opportunities, art galleries and fine eateries its strategic location enables the museum to capitalize on a maximum number of visitors with ease of access into the captivating world of rail history.

As it moves forward, the museum envisions becoming a must-visit destination for train enthusiasts across Texoma and beyond. By preserving the rich history of rail transportation and fostering a strong community connection, the museum will make a positive impact on Downtown Wichita Falls and the city's economy.
