Based on the historical New Milford Green, The Wheels Program is a lifeline for our neighbors. We provide free donation-based transportation for seniors and individuals with disabilities throughout the Greater New Milford area, ensuring they never miss critical medical care, from routine medical, dental, and physical therapy appointments to life-saving therapies such as dialysis and cancer treatments.
For many of our clients, a ride isn't just a convenience, it is independence. In an area where comparable free services are non-existent, we ensure that health and accessibility are never out of reach. By removing the barrier of transportation, we ensure no neighbor has to choose between their budget and their health.
We don’t believe your healthcare should be limited by town lines.
Going the Distance: We are the only free service in the area that transports clients to specialized facilities as far as New York and Yale New Haven.
Barrier-Free Access: While donations are vital to our survival, no client is ever required to pay. We serve everyone, regardless of their financial situation.
Wheels is powered by a small, dedicated staff and an incredible crew of 25+ volunteer drivers. From scheduling to vehicle maintenance, our team is committed to more than just transport. We provide meaningful human interaction and a friendly face during what can often be stressful medical journeys.
While we work hard to secure grants, we simply cannot exist without your support. Our goal is to remove all financial burdens from both our clients and our volunteers.
