Wilkins School Community Center

To grow and sustainably maintain a center for community activity and civic pride by promoting educational, recreational and cultural programs.

We offer over 90 classes a year, maintain a public playground, a Little Free Library, annual events and offer very affordable rental space to individuals, numerous community and cultural organizations, all on an operating budget of $140,000. We are very proud of the quality and breath of programming we offer on such a modest budget. There are classes for adults and children in acting, art, music, languages, dance (salsa, Welsh Dance, Urban Ballroom, Chicago Steppin', tango, waltz, belly dance, ballet, jazz, tap, hip-hop, traditional Chinese Dance and more), fitness, martial arts, cooking, wine tasting, jewelry making, writing workshops, and more. The WSCC sponsors four special events that are either free or low cost to the public; Annual Garden Tour, Reconnect, Plant and Used Book Sale and a Holiday Gift Shop. Classes are available to all, members and non members. Participants are from a large geographic area.
