WRBH's mission is to turn the printed word into the spoken word so that the blind and print impaired receive the same ease of access to current information as their sighted peers.

WRBH offers a wide variety of programs, including the newspaper, magazine articles, events calendar, grocery store ads, best-selling fiction and non-fiction, and even shows for the local Spanish, Vietnamese and Haitian communities! We also produce several original podcasts including, Nola By Mouth, Writer's Forum, Figure of Speech and Public Affairs!

The heart of the station comes from nearly 150 volunteers who donate approximately 5,000 hours of their time annually to transform print information into an audio format so that WRBH can serve its mission of broadcasting 8,700 hours of free programming 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

WRBH is the only FM reading radio station in the US, and the only radio station for the blind that broadcasts across state lines with a 90-mile radius, webcasts around the world, and offers weekly original programming that reaches a diverse, multilingual base of listeners.

Testimonials

"For over 15 years, I've been a reader for WRBH - simple station announcements, books, newspaper articles (including the occasional late-breaking news item) and even grocery ads. No matter the task, I'm always aware of the special service we deliver to those who are unable to read for whatever reason. WRBH provides a unique, stable, solid and needed resource to this community, and will for years to come. I'm proud to be part of it."
Shawn, On-Air Reader for WRBH
