White Tank Mountains Conservancy

Our mission is to inspire all to conserve and enjoy the natural and cultural resources of the White Tank Mountains

The White Tank Mountains in the West Valley of Phoenix are among the best conserved natural areas in the metropolitan region. Lying along the western edge of the urban environment, the Mountains stand in the path of continued growth in one of the nation's fastest growing communities. The Conservancy is dedicated to inspiring all to conserve these mountains that are home to unique natural and cultural resources including mule deer, mountain lions, javelinas and petroglyphs.
Two regional parks in the Mountains offer 38,000 acres and 46 miles of trails for outdoor respite and recreation drawing over 700,000 visitors each year.

Our engagement, education programs and conservation activities are highly collaborative and help us implement programs which directly benefit residents while ultimately serving the human, animal and plant populations of the entire eco-region.

Our Connection to Community is focused on an increase in the environmental knowledge of people who live and/or work in the West Valley as well as promoting volunteerism.

Our current education programs include History of the White Tank Mountains, Leave No Trace, Animal Adaptation, Healing Powers of Nature, Desert Defenders which focuses on removing invasive plant species. Our Wildlife Connectivity initiative focuses on finding and advocating for solutions that will conserve the national heritage of the White Tank Mountains while supporting growth and quality of life for West Valley Residents.

Our expanded Speaker Series features experts in conservation, wildlife, regional planning, advocacy and public policy. Programs will take place in schools, libraries, municipal buildings, businesses, hospitals, theaters, alternate school campuses, organizations and wherever people convene.
