The XIT Museum of Dalhart continues to "Honor Our Past and Build Our Future" in 2026 with several noteworthy projects that celebrated our community. In August, we held the first ever XIT Museum branding party to commemorate our new branding wall on the west side of the museum building right next to our outstanding new mural depicting pioneers of our Dalhart Community. During the celebration, many of our farm and ranch families in the Dalhart community brought their brand and marked their family legacy on the new wall.
Furthermore, the museum hosted a variety of events throughout the year including the Wild Hanbury's interactive wildlife exhibit, the Dalhart High School art show, and Manuel Franco as the XIT Rodeo and Reunion spotlight artist! We are also excited to announce that the museum was featured in True West magazine as one of the top ten western museums to visit in 2026! We are very proud of this honor and what it means for the Dalhart community.
The XIT Museum looks forward to participation once again in The Panhandle Gives charitable campaign this year. We hope to raise $25,000 to install new gallery lighting and adding tracks for new LED spot and flood lighting, and will enable us to present an even better personal experience for our community and those traveling through our historical small town of Dalhart!
As always, there are many "goings-on" down here at the XIT Museum. We are grateful to The Panhandle Gives campaign and the generosity of our donors who make all of this possible. We invite you all to come see what it's like to "Honor Our Past and Build our Future" in Dalhart, Texas!
