Every day, your YMCA makes a positive and lasting impact on thousands of people in the DC region. For 160 years, we've been creating experiences that help children and adults grow - summer camp, child care, basketball, warm embraces, swim lessons, connections in classes, meaningful volunteer work, and so much more. At the Y, we empower our members and neighbors to Do Good, Be Good, and Feel Good each and every day.

Who We Are

YMCA Alexandria's mission is to foster the mental, physical, and spiritual development of individuals, families, and communities according to the ideals of inclusiveness, equality, and mutual respect for all.

We know that lasting personal and social change comes about when we all work together. Every day, we work side-by-side with our neighbors to make sure that everyone, regardless of income, age, or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive.

YMCA Alexandria believes that every child, youth, teen, adult, and senior deserves the opportunity to stay healthy in mind, body, and spirit. Therefore, we never turn anyone away for their inability to pay to participate in our programs and services. In 2019, thanks to donations from community residents and Y members and staff alike, YMCA Alexandria distributed $132,000 in financial assistance to families that enabled their children to participate in our early learning and afterschool programs as well as our summer day camp.

YMCA Alexandria is a branch of the YMCA of Metropolitan Washington.
