Young Audiences of Virginia Inc

The mission of Young Audiences of Virginia, doing business as Arts for Learning, is to inspire and engage students in and through the arts. Motivated by our belief that the creativity and critical thinking gained by exposure to the arts are essential aspects to a child’s development, we formulate arts-integrated programs that help pre-K to 12th grade students build academic, creative, and social-emotional skills. 

Our professional artists—musicians, dancers, storytellers, theater groups, visual artists, and more—use their art forms as teaching tools, helping to reach learners who struggle with traditional methods of teaching. The artists on our roster provide high quality interactive performance-assemblies; hands-on workshops that integrate curriculum concepts with the arts; in-school or after-school residencies for students of all grade levels; professional development for educators; and creative virtual learning for students and families at home. Our programs are rooted in the belief that students should be exposed to a great diversity of cultures, so our artists actively explore the artistic traditions, folklore, and practices of different countries and peoples throughout the world.

We prioritize our services to under-served students in Title 1 schools; students with intellectual or physical disabilities; and military-connected students who may require additional resources while their parents are deployed or otherwise serving our country. We collaborate with artists and educators to help children overcome social, cultural, and personal barriers, with programs that foster academic success, cultivate social-emotional well-being, and develop vibrant communities.
