Raising money for children and families in Uru, Tanzania!

$175

raised by 3 people

$600 goal

Hey everyone! For my birthday I want to SHARE the love with children and families in Uru, Tanzania! I volunteered in Uru in 2018 and was so inspired by the hard work of Mandy Stein, Ali Hanson - but also all of the teachers at the school including hardworking administrators Brian and Nobert that worked around the clock to ensure children's education, health and safety.

Since the COVID outbreak started, things have been tough in Tanzania. School was closed, food distribution was disrupted, health misinformation was spread and people just couldn't afford to social distance. When a global recession starts, prices skyrocket for food and health materials like hand sanitizer in Tanzania. The economy depends on tourism and exportation - resulting in a snowballing effect.

BLESS Neema International and all the donors for providing COVID relief packages to families early in the pandemic and now building a COVID safe house. The safe house just opened today and allows children with elderly parents to be boarded, instead of returning home and potentially exposing their parents every day.

While this is good news - this is not the end of the pandemic and it will absolutely increase costs in Tanzania and decrease sponsors abilities to pay in America. I'm starting out the fundraiser with my own donation - ALL donations are appreciated! $5 might be a Starbucks run or car wash for us, but could buy a weeks worth of food for a family in Uru!

Also if anyone is or knows a student wanting to donate their social media skills for a few hours a week - they are looking for a social media volunteer!
