As 2020 comes to a close, the Japanese Community Youth Council (JCYC) is facing difficult financial challenges. While we have planned for difficult times, nothing could have prepared our organization for the current COVID-19 pandemic and challenges facing the children, youth and families we serve.
We are fortunate that many of our programs remain financially stable, however, JCYC is confronted with a critical situation for which we need your help. In May of this year, we made the difficult decision to re-open our childcare centers, Chibi Chan and Chibi Chan Too Preschools. Opening our pre-schools involved complex challenges to re-organize space to maximize safety and comply with social distancing requirements, securing adequate personal protective equipment, and establishing new safety protocols. However, the dedicated and courageous staff of Chibi Chan felt compelled to respond to the urgent needs of essential workers and other families who need childcare to go to work.
Unfortunately, the current social distancing requirements limits the number of children we can enroll at our pre-school sites. These circumstances have created an unprecedented financial burden on JCYC and we are hopeful that our many friends and supporters will consider lending a helping hand to our organization during this difficult time.
We are incredibly proud of our pre-schools and the amazing staff who provide vital childcare for families who desperately need it. We’d be grateful for your assistance to ensure we can continue to provide these essential services and retain all of our remarkable staff who are providing the highest level of care under extremely difficult conditions.
Thank you in advance for your consideration. Stay safe and healthy, and we wish you the best this holiday season!
Sincerely,
Jon Osaki
