Forever committed to supporting the kitties of Springfield, Holyoke, and Chicopee

$3,000 goal

I have often wondered, when I retire from TJO, will I have made a positive impact for the kitties of our cities and their humans who love them. The struggles to do this change daily.

Just when I think ‘that kitty is going to be OK’ or ‘that human can keep their kitty because of a service I was able to provide or get for them’, I am faced with another challenge.

The kittens who arrive at just ounces are the reason  I will foster as long as I can. My icon this year is Rodney. Arriving at just 6 ounces, he refused his bottle, pushing it away at every attempt to feed him. I refused to give up on him and started tube feeding him- a safer alternative so that when he was fighting this off, he would not be at risk of aspiration. It took weeks of tube feeding him, and he is now a thriving, healthy kitten who wins the heart of everyone he meets. Kittens like Rodney rarely cruise through foster without needing medication and other veterinary intervention.

The kitties who arrive as strays with injuries have my heart. They arrive: injured, defeated, dirty, and oftentimes scared. Watching them heal physically and emotionally is what has kept me doing this for over 15 years.

Here’s where you come in. I’m asking for your support to help ensure that TJO has the financial resources it needs. When animals require care or services that come at a cost, the Foundation for TJO Animals can step in and provide the necessary funding—thanks to generous supporters like you.

For cats, the highest costs are when kitties are outside free-roaming and find themselves with injuries requiring a WUO quarantine at the shelter. (Wound of Unknown Origin- meaning their injuries are believed to have come from another animal.) They require all the regular vetting, more often than not an emergency vet visit, and then 4 months of daily care while they are on a Rabies Quarantine!

Times are tough, I know! Any donation you make is appreciated!
