"Hi, my name is Kali. I'm a loving father, photographer, security officer and motivational public speaker from southern Maryland. Some of you may know me by my inspirational videos and uplifting posts on Facebook. It is widely known that I've been seeking parental rights and custody of my child for quite some time. My child wanted the opportunity to tell the court that he wishes to live with me and I'm happy and proud to say that I've been recently awarded custody of my son! 

It was a joyous celebration! However, someone on the side of the opposing party has savagely attempted to undermine my parental rights by violently attacking me at my son's school in retaliation of my decision to seek custody. They filed false accusations and even went as far as to lodge a 2nd degree assault charge against me, a charge that carries a maximum of 10 years in prison! In custody matters, it is very common for the opposing side to try to strategically use "assault" on the awarded parent in an attempt to get custody back and take the child away. I was confident I would win based on the truth of my testimony and the lack of proof from the lies of my attacker. Unfortunately, on the day of court, the lawyer who agreed to represent me did not show up and I was practically defenseless against a criminal court system which me nor my friends or family had any prior experience with. All these years, I have had no prior record or criminal history so I figured if I just told the judge the TRUTH of what really happened, the honesty of my testimony would prevail, but I was wrong. The judge found me guilty based on my "demeanor"; something I didn't even know was possible-- when the facts reflect my innocence!

Thank God that I was able to appeal the decision, but I had to pay a $3000 bond to be released and write this message to you right now! I am seeking financial support in efforts to pay legal fees and obtain proper legal representation! If I am not represented by an experienced attorney and lose--- not only will my life be on the line... but the life of my son would be greatly affected by my absence if given jail time, which only perpetuates the cycle of absent fathers in the black community due to a biased criminal justice system. Furthermore, going from NOT having a criminal record at all to now having a record will tarnish my credibility and damage my ability to obtain employment to provide for my family!  My son could be taken away from me and all the years I strived to be in his life could be reversed by the slander and wicked actions of the opposing party.  That $3000 dollars we paid for bond was all I had and I'm now putting my faith in God and in You to provide help in my hour of great need! I was told that we only have a week to gather the funds so I pray that we can raise the money we need to prove my innocence in the upcoming court appeal and I can continue to be a loving father to my son, my family, and an inspiration to all.
