Promoting health and wellness through access to vegetables, fruits and education! Preventing and managing chronic disease in North County!
Founded in 2017 by Executive Director Erica Williams, A Red Circle is committed to providing sustained, focused attention to the racial equity issues that impact North St. Louis County. Our three program areas are Community Wellness, Education, and the Arts.
A Red Circle is excited to kick off our 2024 #GiveSTL Campaign: Give. Generate. Grow.
A Red Circle is asking for your support of our 2024 Food & Farm initiatives: Good Food Fridays at the North County Agricultural Education Center in Pine Lawn, MO and the Healthy Flavor Community Garden and Market in Riverview, MO. Both of these programs provide North St. Louis County residents with affordable access to locally grown produce and much more!
Good Food Fridays at the North County Agricultural Education Center (Pine Lawn, Mo.)
Have you had the chance to visit A Red Circle's North County Agricultural Education Center (NCAEC) in Pine Lawn? The organization has converted five vacant residential lots into an urban farm oasis, complete with fruit trees, chickens, bee hives, and a greenho that allows for year-round vegetable production! Overseen by Farmer Eric Williams, the fresh produce and eggs produced at NCAEC are provided to the community through our Good Food Fridays program. From the first harvest in May through our last harvest in October, North St. Louis County residents can drive by the NCAEC on Friday afternoons to pick up a bag of fresh from the farm produce that includes recipes and tips for storage. Starting in 2024, Chef Queenie will be on hand for Good Food Fridays, providing recipe samples. Your donation allows ARC to continue providing these generous weekly produce bags to the community at no charge.
* Your $50 donation provides a family of four with one week’s worth of farm fresh produce.
* Your $100 donation covers the care and feeding of our flock of happy laying hens.
* Your $500 donation sustains our beehives for the year.
* Your $1,500 donation affords one local family fresh produce every week of the growing season.
Healthy Flavor Community Garden & Market (Riverview, Mo.)
Started in 2019, the Healthy Flavor Community Garden and Market offers a monthly celebration of fresh food, fitness, and fun for all who attend! Located at the Zion Traveler's Missionary Baptist Church in Riverview, the Healthy Flavor Community Garden grows fresh vegetables and fruits that are available to the community during A Red Circle's monthly Healthy Flavor Community Market, held on the last Saturday of each month from May through October. This charming local farmer's market includes produce stands from local farmers and growers, cooking demonstrations and recipes, fitness and arts and crafts activities, live music, and class sign-ups! The farmer's market operates on a donation basis, with attendees paying what they can for the fresh produce that's available, making sure that everyone has equitable access to fresh, healthy vegetables and fruits. A Red Circle reimburses participating farmers for the produce that they provide to the community during these events.
* Your $25 donation sponsors one participant in Chef Queenie’s bread making or canning class.
*Your $250 donation sponsors a 12-person bread making or canning class for the community.
* Your $1,000 donation subsidizes a full growing season for one raised bed at our Healthy Flavor Community Garden.
* Your $2,500 donation sponsors one month of the Healthy Community Market for the community!
