WHY ACTORS THEATRE MATTERS TO ME

Six months ago, I joined Actors Theatre of Louisville as Director of Advancement & External Relations. Since then, I have been thrilled to become part of a thoughtful, caring community of artists, staff, board members, and supporters who believe deeply in the power of theatre to bring people together.

Actors Theatre is building incredible momentum, with a goal of doubling our reach this year. Even in my short time here, we have launched several new programs, including summer theatre camps for middle and high school students.

I was especially proud to help raise the funds to provide 33 camp scholarships this summer. These camps teach young people valuable theatre skills while also nurturing them as whole people. Campers learned skills they will remember, but the most lasting gifts were a sense of belonging, greater confidence, and the simple joy of creating and having fun together.

Your Give for Good gift will help Actors Theatre serve even more young people through summer camps while expanding access to meaningful theatre experiences throughout our community. I hope you’ll join me in helping more people discover a place where they can learn, connect, create, and belong.

JOIN ME

This Give for Good Louisville, I’m asking you to join me in supporting Actors Theatre. Every gift helps keep live theatre thriving in our community and creates more opportunities for people to experience the connection, joy, and belonging that the arts provide.

WHY GIVE TO ACTORS THEATRE?

  • Regular participation in cultural events is associated with a 32% lower risk of depression.
  • Engaging with the arts just a few times a year is associated with a 14% lower risk of premature death.
  • The arts give us a place to gather. Chronic loneliness can have a significant impact on our health — the U.S. Surgeon General compares its effects to smoking 15 cigarettes a day.

THE EVIDENCE IS CLEAR:

When you invest in the arts you’re creating a healthier, happier Louisville.
