Hello, my friends!
That's me in the photo wearing red aboard Dave Gendell's boat, with Dave smiling and volunteering to drive around the photographer, at the 2020 Hospice Cup Regatta. I joined the board for Hospice Cup, a sailboat racing event to benefit regional hospices, for one important reason: at the end of my mom's life in 2012, Hospice workers helped me navigate those rough waters. I wanted to pay it forward.
When someone you love is dying, there's so much grief and confusion clouding your vision that you feel lost and don't know what to do... Hospice workers help you figure it out. They offer everything from volunteer help and guidance for patients to grief counseling for families. It's important work. It adds dignity to what may be some of the worst days of your family's lives. I hope you and your family never need Hospice care, but if you do, you will be grateful it's there. Fundraisers such as Hospice Cup make it possible.
