4 mares with brand new foals arrive today. These mares need a soft place to land. They are 4 of 20 mares with brand new lives standing at their sides. By no fault of their own, they find themselves in an AT RISK situation. I'm working with Jeanine from Oakdale rescue (does great legitimate work). She called and asked, "Can You Help?" I had to check with my other contact in northern Ca. as I was holding space. But she gave me the go ahead....she is tending to a very critically ill foal..it's an hour to hour situation for her, so they aren't going anywhere. So we shift gears a bit and get ready for these mares and foals. These mares have been DNA tested, and apparently, are showing different breeds: Trakehner, Holsteiner, Mangalarga Marchador ( Brazil), Argentinian Criollo, Icelandic. Obviously each horse is one of those breeds or a mix. But fine potential sport horses!
We never ever know what we will get. We don't shop just help....they all come from Northern Calif. Presently untouchable (we will gentle them all and put them up for adoption).
We didn't want to see them sent away to a lot, or put on a truck, starved or left to perish. Please donate to help us do this work. The most stressful piece is making the leap of faith that the community will be there. We need your financial support or the work stops. You are our only funding.
I am planning on creating opportunities for small visits while they settle in and become acclimated to their new temporary sanctuary.
