Watershed Watch in Kentucky (WWKY) is a volunteer based citizen science water monitoring organization, we have been monitoring the waterways of KY since 1997 and need your help to keep moving forward. Watershed Watch in Kentucky has supported 4,356 citizen scientists who have monitored 3,451 sites across Kentucky. Watershed Watch began working with volunteers who are monitoring lakes and learning how to observe and report Harmful Algal Blooms. Watershed Watch is also proud to working with 4-H in an effort to teach our young people about the importance of protecting our water sources.
Because of the Watershed Watch volunteers and their efforts, 56 watershed groups have formed across the state that actively work to address water quality issues by securing various funding sources for on the ground practices to improve water quality, raise awareness about water quality issues through outreach events and work with local officials to improve policies related to water quality.
As State and Federal budgets are being cut, funding for organizations like WWKY is harder to find. In order for our volunteer based organization to move forward, we need your help to provide training and sampling equipment for present and future volunteers. Are you willing to help Watershed Watch in Kentucky continue their important work? Please donate today!
