Hi Friends + Family!! It’s me again :)
I’m excited to share that I have the opportunity to serve on ANOTHER mission trip with my church the first week of May (quick, I know!) It was made very clear to me during my time in Guatemala that God desires mission work to hold a greater importance in my life. Well, with little surprise (cause that’s just how He works), He quickly opened another door for me to step out and obey His lead! With that, I’ve said yes, and will be joining another incredible team from Grace Fellowship in the Dominican Republic.
While in the DR, our team will be visiting ministries in both urban and rural towns and villages throughout the country. While our trip to Guatemala focused heavily on children’s ministry, our time in DR will span the spectrum. Firstly, our team will be serving in an orphanage for children with disabilities, specifically deaf children, spreading the gospel in low income, public elementary schools, ministering to teens from broken, abusive homes, as well as, facilitating and teaching seminars at a local, young adult Christian academy. Branching out of children’s ministry, we will be serving in a women’s shelter — the women here are victims of sex trafficking and domestic abuse, and/or are former prostitutes. The shelter is a safe space for these women — providing rehabilitation, spiritual development & the resources needed for the reintroduction into society. From there we have the opportunity to spend time with the elderly at the local nursing home. The work we will be doing is vast! I am anxious to see all the beautiful ways in which God stretches and utilizes our group to advance His kingdom!
No matter how much we plan and prep for our trip, we are not naive to the fact that it is not our way but His. As a whole, we pray that our hands and feet will be used how he chooses, not in the way that we hope pr intend!
