Dear Friends and Family,
For over ten years, Sarah and I have been dedicated to a single mission: the Challenge to Conquer Cancer (C3). This isn't just a charity to us—it’s a part of our family’s story.
Why We Ride: Remembering Pat and Nancy
Our journey began in 2015 when Sarah’s mom, Pat, was selected as a C3 Warrior. We lost her to ovarian cancer just months before the ride. A few years later, my own mom, Nancy, faced thyroid cancer with incredible bravery until her passing in 2023. They were strong, resilient women who never wanted sympathy—they wanted us to stay determined. We ride to honor their memory and to carry that strength forward for others.
The Grit Behind the Miles
Many of you know that I spend a lot of time training—hitting the gym, functional training, and pushing my limits. But as I prepare for the relay ride from Greenville, SC, to Lewiston, ME, I keep one thing in mind: The physical and emotional "grit" of my training is nothing compared to what patients endure every single day in treatment.
When my legs are heavy or the ride gets grueling, I think of the Warriors. I think of the stories we hear during our ride from other riders and those we serendipitously meet along the way. I think about the fact that those going through cancer are never fighting it alone. That connection—the moment a patient realizes a whole team of people is literally riding up the east coast for them—is why your support matters.
Our Goal: $5,000 for 2026
This year, I’ve set a goal to raise $5,000. Every dollar goes directly toward:
The Center for Integrative Oncology (CIOS): Providing holistic care like genetic counseling and oncology rehab.
Groundbreaking Research: Funding advancements in patient care led by experts like Dr. Gluck.
The Warrior Program: Giving those currently in the fight the chance to be celebrated and supported at the finish line in Maine.
How You Can Help
Whether you have supported us for the last decade or this is your first time hearing our story, please consider making a donation. No amount is too small, and every bit of it fuels the research and support services that save lives.
I’ll be sharing updates on my training and our progress during the ride (Sept 12-18) on Facebook and Instagram.
Thank you for standing with us, for remembering Pat and Nancy, and for helping us conquer cancer.
With gratitude,
J & Sarah
