Cerqua Rivera Dance TheatrePlease help us welcome these artists back to the company and help bring our big plans to life.

$10,000 goal
I am thrilled to share the bold, talented choreographers who will be making art with Cerqua Rivera Dance Theatre in 2021.
This accomplished and diverse group of women will help us continue the momentum we've built over several years
- including 2019, when we celebrated our 20th Anniversary
- and 2020, when we adjusted to keep our artists at work and make and share art safely during a pandemic.
We must raise $10,000 in the next few weeks to bring the work of these talented artists to life. These funds will pay these esteemed choreographers, the movement consultants who will help them create the work, and the composers who will collaborate to create the complex engrossing work we're known for.
Thank you for helping if you can!

STEPHANIE MARTINEZ
In 2015, choreographer Stephanie Martinez was awarded Joffrey Ballet’s “Winning Works: Choreographers of Color” commission and the Chicago 3Arts Award in recognition for her work as a female artist of color. More recently, Martinez was awarded an NEA grant for her premiere of Bliss! with Joffrey Ballet. Dubbed “a chameleon” of choreography by the Chicago Tribune, Martinez’s psychologically revelatory works challenge the viewer’s notion of what’s possible. In 2021, she returns to Cerqua Rivera Dance Theatre to revisit her 2016 work on the company, SHIVER.

Currently, she is Assistant Professor at Western Michigan University, teaching jazz dance curriculum and working with the musical theater students. Cerqua Rivera's audiences have been treated to her work in recent years - Corner Sketches: A Tribute to Miles Davis, ROOT, Mood Swing. In 2021, she returns to the company to launch a brand-new two-year project: SOUL REMEDY.
