2023 HSSJC Veterinary Medical Fund

On the morning of December 5th we received one of the worst types of calls we can get; there’s an ongoing fire. Animals are present at the scene.

Our ACOs jumped into action, and retrieved a female calico cat, who we have affectionately dubbed Ember, from a garage fire on Douglas Road.

Ember was immediately brought back to our Humane Society on Grape road, where she was stabilized due to the incredible efforts of our medical staff.

Later that day, Ember was taken to our local partner, Lincolnway Veterinary Clinic, where she received hyperbolic chamber treatments that greatly improved her outlook.

This treatment is amazing and lifesaving – and costly for our non-profit shelter. The estimated bill from this treatment is $460.

Ember was returned to us the same day, and is currently in stable condition. She is going to need lots of love, rest, and medical care. This can include blood work, radiographs, x-rays, and more.
