about the campus.
43% of LGBTQ+ youth experiencing homelessness have been forced out of their homes due to conflicts with their families about their sexuality and/or gender identity and 56% of LGBTQ+ youth in foster care have spent time without stable housing because they felt safer on the streets than in group or foster homes. That’s why support structures like the Opportunity Campus are so crucial to the health and wellness of our community.
The Campus will be a housing & community space in Omaha, Nebraska for LGBTQ+ youth and young adults who are system-impacted (individuals have been affected by incarceration, detention, foster care, and family surveillance).
The initiative will provide housing, mental health support, community programming, and drop-in services such as hot meals, showers, food pantry, and laundry. All services will be provided at no cost to residents and members.
Your contribution directly supports the development of this life-saving initiative. Let's build a world where LGBTQ+ youth have access to an affirming place to call home and the resources to live a full life.
about the org.
Black & Pink National is an organization dedicated to abolishing the criminal punishment system, liberating LGBTQIA2S+ people, and supporting people living with HIV/AIDS through advocacy and organizing.
In February 2020, Black and Pink National opened Lyndon House to offer housing and support solutions to LGBTQ+ youth impacted by incarceration. In just over a year, Lyndon House has served six residents, and 50 community members. The organization hopes to expand the reach of these services to even more youth through The Opportunity Campus.
