This year, more than 76,000 Chicagoans experienced homelessness, and one in five households faced food insecurity.
In response, we are hosting our annual Sleepout for Homelessness to raise critical funds for life-changing programs that help individuals and families move toward stability.
In addition to hosting our open-door dinner parties with genuine, humanizing care for each guest, we act as a central hub for wrap-around services including social workers and occupational therapists, a free pop-up medical clinic, and food bank, and clothing bank.
Our affordable housing partner met half of their clients at Care For Friends. 78% have now found homes, and 80% of those people remained housed when checked back on a year later.
Our job skills and education partner reports that graduates are earning an average wage of $12.38/hour for jobs that provide 38 hours per week - and last at least a year.
60% of our guests have been connected to a permanent medical home.
While we serve all guests regardless of their beliefs, my involvement at Care for Friends, and in every aspect of my life if I can manage it, takes inspiration from the Christian values of service and Christ's command to feed the hungry, clothe the naked and love our neighbors as much as we love ourselves.
Your support would mean so much to me and everyone we serve. THANK YOU! ❤️
