Hello - As part of the “Giving Day For Apes“ campaign Mika asked me to put together a fundraising page unique for the Volunteers of Save The Chimps. The idea is for us as volunteers to have a specific channel to highlight our support for STC. In that vein I hope you view this page is OUR page and an opportunity to continue to collectively show our support for Seve’s Island and all great work that goes on at STC day and night.
I’m starting my fourth winter as a volunteer here soon and I know for some of you I’m still a rookie compared to your many years of service. As volunteers we have a unique insight to how these upgrades will add to the enrichment the Chimps, who have sacrificed so much for us in their previous lives, deserve. I am a fortunate person in that I spent more than 30 years working with great professionals and more years than that volunteering for numerous worthy Not For Profits. I can honestly say my time at STC has given back to me more than any other volunteer group I’ve been a part of.
Here are some of the details if you haven’t seen them already: “New platform structures at Save the Chimps can help to enrich the lives of the chimpanzees in their care, providing them with shade from the sun’s rays when desired, places to climb, and the opportunity to enjoy each other and new experiences.“
We all provide a valuable resource to STC by giving our valuable time and energy and I recognize in these challenging times so many additional and difficult sacrifices have had to be made. If you can spare anything to support this effort I know it will be deeply appreciated by Seve’s family and you’ll have the added benefit of hopefully seeing them enjoy those improvements first hand soon!
Respectfully-Your fellow Volunteer
