Campaign Update: So Close to the Starting Line 💙💛
We wanted to share where things stand at Solace Hospice of Southwest Virginia — and it’s hard not to feel both proud and grateful.
Our supply room is stocked and ready.
Our team has completed orientation.
Policies are in place.
Systems are built.
The foundation is strong.
We are currently waiting on one final contract before we can notify the state that we are ready for survey. Once that piece is signed, we move into the last official step toward serving patients.
It’s an incredible feeling to stand this close to opening our doors.
At the same time, this final stretch is also the most financially vulnerable season for a startup hospice. We are not yet generating revenue, but the operational costs continue — utilities, supplies, software, insurance, staffing.
Your support right now is what allows us to stay steady and ready — not scrambling — when the first family calls.
The first time we answer the phone as a licensed hospice provider will be because this community carried us here.

After years of serving families in hospice, I saw firsthand what rural Southwest Virginia needed — and what was missing. But this hospice was never meant to be mine alone. It has been built for — and with — the people of our region.
