We received an urgent plea we could not ignore, and we really need your help!
Friday morning, sanitation workers were on their trash collecting route in West Virginia. They loaded a dumpster into the truck and moved on to the next stop. As they prepared to empty the next dumpster into the truck, one of the workers heard tiny cries. He climbed into the truck to investigate and found the source of the cries. Someone had taped closed a box full of SIX young kittens and tossed it in the dumpster.
Thankfully, the worker had heard the kittens before they compacted the series of loads! These babies are now without a mom and require a lot of attention to get them on solid food, rid of the fleas, and on their way to better lives.
We could not wait to get sponsorship beforehand, as the shelter doesn't have bottle feeding resources. It was rescue or the end. We now have the six flea-infested kittens, all with URIs to boot, who thankfully are now eating solid food.
Please consider a donation to help us cover their medical expenses and the higher costs it takes to care for bottle babies. We had to rush to get them in our care, and we're hoping you can help us now build the resources we need to get them ready for adoption. We simply just could not let them die in shelter after their near-death experience by the trash compactor.
