Supporters of MADCO can contribute to our fundraising efforts by emphasizing their favorite aspect of our programming, especially our Books in Motion program in Elementary Schools! Started in 2022, the Sarah Ann Johnson Legacy Fund was created to honor Sarah's legacy and her passion for reading and learning. By donating to the SAJ Legacy Fund, you help support these programs, bringing literacy and movement into under-resourced schools across St. Louis. We aim to raise $2,000 (half of the fee for one BIM program) on Give STL Day to jumpstart the scholarship fund for schools in need. We hope that this scholarship will allow more schools to experience that Books in Motion at no cost. Your contribution can truly make a difference!

Books in Motion is an enriching 10-day program aimed at inspiring a deep appreciation for the arts, fostering a love for reading, and providing hands-on experiences tailored to the unique needs of a school's 4th or 5th grade students. This season, MADCO has brought Books in Motion to 6 schools across the St. Louis area (Concord, Conway, Kratz, Marion, Marvin and Sappington Elementary Schools). With your help, we will be able to expand our reach and bring programming to more schools across our community.

The artistic components of the Books in Motion program encompass a range of elements that blend literature, dance, and creativity. These components are integrated to provide a comprehensive and enriching experience for the participating students. The program integrates various elements, such as interpreting themes and motifs through movement, choreography, and dance performance, fostering creative expression and improvisation, promoting teamwork and collaboration, and culminating in live performances where students showcase their interpretations before their peers and the wider community. Your donation can help deliver an engaging experience that not only enriches the students' understanding of literature and dance but also nurtures their creativity, teamwork, and emotional intelligence.
