Danny and Siegrid NOLA2Angola

This year, Siegrid and I are riding the NOLA to Angola solidarity bike ride. This three-day bike ride funds an entire year of the Cornerstone Bus Project: a free monthly bus service for New Orleanians with loved ones detained in Angola Prison and other detention centers. As someone with family who has been in the carceral system, this fundraiser is near and dear to my heart. If you believe in the importance of keeping families and friends together in times of crisis, please give what you can.

For me, this is more than a bike ride. This experience will deepen my political education in abolitionist thought and help me reflect on prison systems as a systematic tool for isolation and alienation for the most marginalized. The three-day journey will include listening to speakers and activists who campaign on these issues, camping in the woods, and visiting Angola Prison itself.

All funds raised will go directly to the Cornerstone Builders’ Bus Project, which provides free monthly transportation from New Orleans and Shreveport for folks to visit loved ones incarcerated in Louisiana prisons.
