Trauma healing success

Update posted 2 years ago

On Saturday, May 7th, we launched our trauma art healing pilot project for Ukrainian refugees in Bautzen and were blown away by the response! We anticipated 36 women and teen refugees attending sessions with our trained art therapy team. Instead, we had 60 participants for the art therapy and over 125 for the warm meals!

Maria, a refugee herself and part of our team, said:

“We had a really great experience…the Dresden [art therapist] team is amazing and we’re very welcomed by Ukrainians. The participants shared their positive feelings after attending session, despite some sessions were very touching and women were crying, the end was good and full of hope and encouragement. So thank you very much for such a great tool and opportunity for refugees here in Bautzen.”

Russia launched a full-scale war against Ukraine early on February 24. The Russian army is bombarding Kyiv, Kharkiv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Mariupol, Lviv, and other major Ukrainian cities. Thousands of Ukrainian residents are fleeing the country.
The purpose of this fundraising is to help them with basic needs, transportation, and shelter during the first few weeks of their move, as well as to provide for other needs.
