A service dog to help Ceci

Cecilia and her mom adopted each other when was Ceci 8 years old. Being an adopted kid, Ceci has always had a heart for dogs in the shelter that are waiting for families. But Ceci has physical challenges, and she really needs a service dog that is specially trained to walk beside her in her walker, carry things, and help open doors. Ceci is so excited that a canine companion and helper is in her future that she has borrowed every dog care book available from the library!  

Cecilia is a budding nature photographer. Carrying camera equipment is difficult with a walker. Now she dreams of one day asking her dog to carry a little backpack so they can go on picture-taking adventures together. 

4Paws for Ability will raise the dog from a puppy and provide 2 years of training. It will be over 2 years before Ceci and her mom will meet the dog and spend nine days learning how to work as a team. The total cost to raise and train a service dog is over $40,000, but Ceci will be officially in the queue after we have raised just $17,000 for 4Paws for Ability.

This wonderful organization helps kids with disabilities increase their independence in daily living and builds their confidence for the future.The more people who know about their work, the more kids with disabilities will have the incomparable support of a trained service dog.
