Stephen is a sweet, smart and adventurous 4.5 year old boy! He loves all things monster trucks, dirt, fast cars and Gecko from PJ Masks. And he is ECSTATIC to start the journey towards getting a seizure alert dog!

In March 2020, Stephen experienced his first ever seizure while eating breakfast with his family. Then in October of 2020, Stephen experienced a rapid onset of various seizure types. He went from having 1 seizure every 6-8 weeks to hundreds of seizures per day. Over the last year, Stephen has experienced thousands of seizures, various delays in his development and multiple seizure related injuries. Doctors have determined that Stephen has Doose Syndrome, or Myoclonic Astatic Epilepsy.

At this time, Stephen experiences tonic-clonic seizures, tonic seizures, atonic seizures, absence seizures, atypical absence seizures and myoclonic seizures. The scariest are when these occur during his sleep and it impacts his ability to breathe. He takes several daily medications and follows a strict medical ketogenic diet. And while improving slowly, he is still experiencing several seizures per day. And probably will for many years to come.

A seizure alert dog would bring such comfort, peace of mind and support to the family and Stephen! This dog would be able to sleep with Stephen in order to notify parents of a seizure as well as alert Stephen and the family to a seizure during the day so to prevent injuries from falling. The dog would be able to attend school with Stephen so to support him through his day as well as bridge relationships with peers. The dog will also be trained in behavioral disruption in order to support and redirect Stephen when he becomes upset or overstimulated.

Please help us make this dream come true!!!
