Tanner is our 5 year old little ball of energy. Tanner was diagnosed in 2017 with autism, language impairment, and global developmental delay. He also was later diagnosed in 2019 with ADHD. He has come so far thanks to all of our amazing service providers, teachers and support from friends and family.

Tanner's service dog will be specifically trained for him to meet his 3 biggest needs:

  • Behavior disruption
  • Tethering
  • Tracking

His dog will also provide some secondary benefits including:

  • Companionship
  • Providing deep pressure during over-stimulation
  • Creating a social bridge
  • Transition assistance

One of our family's biggest concerns for Tanner is safety. We've experienced elopement where Tanner has been able to get out of the house despite constant supervision, locks and door/window alarms.  A service dog from 4 Paws For Ability will be specially trained in tracking and locating in the event that Tanner is able to get out of the house by himself.

His dog will also provide behavior disruption during overwhelming situations where Tanner may feel anxious or over-stimulated. Tanner thrives on routine and when his routine is disrupted, it can cause him a lot of anxiety and distress.

We are so grateful for this opportunity and thank you to everyone who has donated and/or shared his story!
