Raksha, Inc’s mission is to promote a stronger and healthier South Asian community through confidential support services, education, and advocacy.

Raksha works for healing, empowerment and justice for South Asian communities with culturally-specific advocacy and direct support services for survivors of interpersonal violence which includes but is not limited to domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, and dating violence.

Covid-19 amplifies the unique and complex challenges that survivors from immigrant and refugee communities face.

To list a few, many immigrants will not qualify for stimulus checks due to immigration loopholes and related reasons. Many had already been struggling to make ends meet with hourly wage jobs and are now unable to make rent. Some are single parents with no child care support and stand at further risk in shelters. For some victims, social isolation and quarantine has resulted in being trapped with their abusers and escaping is not possible during shelter-in-place orders. To make matters worse, many funders have shifted their priorities and our communities' needs are not on the top of the list.

Your tax-deductible donation will provide - on a case by case basis - food and groceries, rental assistance for those at risk of eviction or housing emergencies, medical costs for clients who are sick, safe transportation to access critical services such as doctor visits, treatments. Sharing hope and comfort in the form of your donations and your virtual Chai-fives (social tagging others to donate) will help survivors stay safe, when it is needed the most.
