I have been organizing with the Vermont Workers' Center for a couple years, and my life is so much the richer for it! And as a new parent, it's something that's helped me when times are tough....  Sad news streaming in from all corners of the world actually made me pretty leery of having a kid:  "How can I bring another soul into this world where extreme inequality, land theft, resource extraction, and climate chaos rule the day?"  "How in the world will I explain to my daughter all the horrible stuff?"  I can't say that organizing with the VT Workers' Center has changed any of these fundamental questions, but I can say that learning to organize for change has fundamentally changed my outlook.

In order to build a more just society, we must learn to work together. In order to change the systems of oppression that divide us, we must unite across difference. In order to build a world in which people and the planet can live in harmony, we must change the status quo.  These are all imperatives around which the Vermont Workers' Center organizes, and ways I continue to find hope. And as a parent, thess are all ways in which I hope my daughter, someday, might also find comfort.

If any of that resonates with you, please consider supporting the Workers' Center by donating to this "Can't Stop Won't Stop, Marching for Human Rights" fundraiser. To mark 21 years in the struggle for economic justice, working class power, and the right to a livable planet, the Vermont Workers' Center is raising $20,000 in 20 days.  And every dollar of this grassroots fundraiser will be matched by another $20,000 in matching grants.

This will help to sustain our work building powerful groups of organizers across the state, while maintaining our financial independence (from major foundations or grants), so that we are accountable to each other and the movement.
