About our work at the Multi-Agency Alliance for Children:

This year,  MAAC partnered to pilot an apprenticeship program for youth in foster care who are interested in IT careers. It's an amazing opportunity providing training and educational support for high demand jobs that lead to sustainable, living wages - truly a life changing opportunity. MAAC provides the support for the participants. I was reminded of the number of things that can set a person back or sometimes even derail progress towards a goal - things I have had the support to overcome, but many of our young people don't.  Things like emergency child care (this just saved me last week), medical co-pays, transportation needs (have you looked at the cost to replace a spare tire lately?), and so very many other "little" things. Will you consider being a barrier buster for these young people to help them go beyond what circumstances have given them?

MAAC goes beyond by lifting youth and family voice and making sure they get what they need, not just what they qualify for. We provide support for parenting teens in foster care that includes connecting them with resources and teaching life and parenting skills. Our EmpowerMEnt program furthers leadership and advocacy skill building for young adults who have experienced foster care.

Help us go #Beyond:

  • $100 can provide emergency funds to cover immediate needs like groceries, child care, car repairs, or clothes for a job interview
  • $50 can provide a 40 Trip MARTA pass for access to school and jobs
  • $25 can provide school supplies for young students pursuing post-secondary education
